LSU Target John Brantley

Florida’s backup quarterback John Brantley may not start in Saturday’s game against No. 4 LSU, but he’s officially arrived. LSU fans, who famously left Tim Tebow hundreds of messages on his cell phone two years ago before Florida’s 28-24 loss in Baton Rouge, have now apparently targeted Brantley.

“They haven’t been bad, just a little annoying,” he said of the text messages he’s received. How many? “Quite a few, quite a few.”

Asked how he responds to the calls, Brantley said: “I don’t. I just ignore, put it down.”  Read More Here

LSU fans flooded Tim Tebow’s cell phone

October 10th, 2007

The World of Tim Tebow has not been quite as magical these last two weeks as Florida lost consecutive games. (I would have thought they would never lose with him at the helm.) But alas, we have had to deal with the fact that maybe Tebow is a mere mortal. However, that doesn’t been after LSU fans got his cell phone number last week and bombarded him with calls, he let it affect him at all.

“His friends took his cell phone and the calls and messages would come in faster than they could erase them,” said Tebow’s father, Bob. “How many messages can you erase in a minute? They came in faster than that.”

Tebow called the ordeal “an interesting experience, just handling it all,” Local 6 News partner Florida Today reported.

But he said it was not too much.

After scoring a touchdown in Baton Rouge, Tebow put his hand to his helmet and taunted the crowd, as if to say, “Call me now.” He said it was all in good fun.

“They were having fun with me, so I was having fun with them, too,” he said. “It’s what college football is all about. It’s just fun, and I had fun with it. I know it probably got under their skin a little bit.”

Asked what the messages from the fans said, he replied, “I don’t use that type of language too much, so I can’t tell you. Some people did take it way too far, farther than you should take it with sports. But I think for the most part people were just having fun.”

Some of the calls included threats.

“There was some stuff like that, but I didn’t worry about it or think about it,” Tebow said. “I didn’t even think it was that big of a deal.”

Remember last week when that high school quarterback got threats to his cell phone and the police got involved? Pssh. Tim Tebow does not roll that way. He merely sees it as fun and games, homie. If only we all had such an agreeable disposition.

2008 ARCHIVE Jean Francois, LSU lineman Remark about Tim Tebow

“If we get a good shot on (Tebow), we’re going to try our best to take him out of the game,” Jean-Francois told the Orlando Sentinel. If LSU can get in such a hit, Jean-Francois added, the effect will be like “a car wreck without a seat belt.”

Jean-Francois did extend props to the Gator quarterback, saying, “With his size and his heart, it’s hard to get a clean shot.” But Jean-Francois, who has been hailed as Glenn Dorsey’s worthy successor at LSU, made it clear there will be no regrets if Tebow gets sidelined.

Said Jean-Francois: “If he does get hurt, there’s a trained medical staff at Florida, so you can go to the training

room on Sunday.”

BTW…Ricky Jean-Francois, a LSU defensive lineman, who didn’t even travel with the team!

Because of the negative press the comment caused on both sides, Jean-Francois was forced to make a statement on LSU’s official website clarifying his words.

“We never go into any football game trying to hurt a player from the other team,” Jean-Francois said in the release. “My comments in regard to Florida quarterback Tim Tebow were misinterpreted and were intended to reflect the style of football that we play at LSU. We have great respect for Tim as player and a competitor. By taking him out of the game, I meant, as a defense we are going to try to make him ineffective. I’m sorry that my initial comments were interpreted another way.”

Shelly Meyer….Urban Meyers Wife

College football has taken Shelley Meyer all over the map. But for the past four and a half years, she has been living it up in Gainesville, Fla., where her husband Urban Meyer, head football coach of the University of Florida Gators, has scored two national championships in four seasons. No doubt, life is crazy.

“Now that we’re at the University of Florida — the elite of the elite of football programs in the nation — it’s hard to put into words how busy we are,” says the 44-year-old psychiatric nurse, group fitness professional and mom of three. “It’s really picked up to the max.”  Read More Here
