The 2015 NFL Draft Gerald Christian is “Mr. Irrelevant”

Mr. Irrelevant” is the title bestowed each year upon the last pick of the annual National Football League draft.

Although the NFL Draft dates back to 1936, the first person to officially be given the “Mr. Irrelevant” title was Kelvin Kirk, pick number 487 of the 1976 draft.

The current Mr. Irrelevant is tight end Gerald Christian, formerly of the Louisville Cardinals, who was selected by the Arizona Cardinals as pick number 256 of the 2015 draft.

Jonathan Dwyer Deactivated from the Cardinals Roster

The list of NFL players who have been arrested this  continues to grow and yes…once again…it involves domestic violence.

Johnathan Dwyer Wife Kayla PhotoArizona Cardinals  Jonathan Dwyer is suspected of assaulting his wife, Kayla Tobin Dwyer,  in TWO separate incidents and according to sources…he broke bones.

On July 21st the NFL running back allegedly beat up his wife at their home in Phoenix.  The following day… on July 22nd there was a repeat.

Following the incidents , Dwyer’s wife  left the state of Arizona with the couples 18-month-old child.

In the police report victims are listed as Kayla, 27,  and their son Jonathan Dwyer, Jr.

On September 11, 2014, a report was filed.  The case was then investigated and on Sept. 17th Dwyer was arrested for domestic violence in Tempe.

Dwyer was  booked into the Maricopa County Jail on 1 count of aggravated assault causing a fracture, 1 count of aggravated assault involving a minor, 2 counts of criminal damage, 1 count of preventing the use of a phone in an emergency, and assault.

He has been deactivated from the Cardinals roster….

Jonathan Avery Dwyer is an American football running back for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the sixth round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He played college football at Georgia Tech.

 

Cam Newton Debut

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton set a rookie record by throwing for 422 yards in yesterdays debut against the Arizona Cardinals.

Netwon, the first pick in the nfl draft, proved that he has what it takes to play in the NFL.

He completed 24 of 37 attempts.  Had only one interception. Four sacks and ran for one touchdown.  His first touchdown pass was 77 yards.

Newton broke Colts quarterback Peyton Manning’s yardage total in Manning’s rookie debut.

Although Newtons positives far outweighed any negatives….the Panthers were beaten by the Cardinals…Final Score 28-21!

Holding Penalties!

In his first start at right tackle on the Cowboys’ offense, Alex Barron experienced his familiar problem with holding penalties.

A year ago, while with St. Louis, Barron tied for the league lead in holds with seven. He had three in the opening-game loss to Washington.

Barron completed the trifecta by grabbing outside linebacker Brian Orakpo on the final play of the game. That offset what would have been a game-tying 13-yard touchdown pass to Roy Williams.

Barron’s first holding pushed the Cowboys back to their 36 for the final play of the first half. The next play will live in franchise infamy: a dump pass to Tashard Choice, whose fumble was returned 32 yards by DeAngelo Hall for a touchdown.

Barron’s second penalty cost the Cowboys a 12-yard catch by Jason Witten for what would have been a first down at the Washington 32.  Read full story and more here
