Thirsty Fan Gets More than Beer Money from Mom

Got Beer Money? A college football fan at Bristol Motor Speedway found a sympathetic audience via ESPN’s College GameDay on Saturday morning while asking his mother for beer money.

In the crowd for Saturday’s Virginia Tech-Tennessee pre-game festivities, the man held up a sign that read, “Hi Mom! Send Beer Money” that included his Venmo account name.

For the uninitiated, Venmo is an app that allows people to send and receive money from friends — or in this case, complete strangers.

His Venmo account was flooded with beer money donations — in fact, over 400 of them in one hour, by Darren Rovell’s count.

Here’s a sampling of comments to Sam Crowder from the generous donors.

Venmo is a free digital wallet that lets you make and share payments with friends. You can easily split the bill, cab fare, or much more!
