Muhammad Ali Denies Picking Pac-Man over Mayweather

A ringside rift has already begun between Muhammad Ali and his family due to their conflicting favorites in the upcoming Mayweather vs. Pacquiao welterweight world title fight which is set to take place on May 02, at the MGM Muhammad Ali's daughter confirms boxing great backing 'Team Pacquiao' in Manny-Mayweather boutGarden Arena.

According to Muhammad Ali’s daughter Rasheda Ali-Walsh,…the former heavyweight boxing champion is has choosen to hop on the “Team Pacquiao” bandwagon.

Rasheda  claims that her father is a huge fan and friend of the thirty-six-year-old Filipino world champion professional boxer.

On Thursday,  a statement from an Ali publicist posted on the Muhammad Ali Center website denied that the champ was backing either fighter…adding that  “The stories that Ali has chosen a favorite in the fight are false.”

“Muhammad has the utmost respect for both fighters who will undoubtedly give boxing fans an incredible match,” the statement said.

Despite the recent state Rasheda remains adamant and  stands by her original statements.

TMZ Sports, who initially broke the conflicting story that “Everything in your [TMZ Sports] original story is an absolute fact.”

“It was extremely accurate. It was exactly what I said to the word.”

“Honestly, truthfully, everything I said was true. He is a fan of Manny.”

Rasheda adds, “For political reasons, or other reasons, or because my dad didn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings, Lonnie [Muhammad’s wife] didn’t want him to pick a side.”

“After your article came out, Lonnie was fine with it. Other outlets took the story and twisted the words around and basically made it seem like my dad was going to be sitting in Manny’s corner the night of the fight.”

Ali, who turned 73 in January and has battled the effects of Parkinson’s disease for decades, hasn’t attended a fight in years.   He isn’t expected to attend the upcoming event but he will be watching what is being called the greatest match in the history of professional boxing.
Pacquiao, a two-term congressman from Sarangani province in the Philippines, is 57-5 with two drawn and 38 knockouts while Mayweather is 47-0 with 26 knockouts.
