Carlos Dunlap DUI Arrest

Florida’s hopes of repeating as Southeastern Conference and national champions were dealt a major blow Tuesday morning.

Gators junior defensive end Carlos Dunlap, the defensive MVP of last year’s national championship game, was arrested by Gainesville Police officers Tuesday and booked in Alachua County jail on a DUI charge.

He was released at 9:10 a.m. on his own recognizance after his first court appearance. A court date has not been set.

The North Charleston, S.C., native is tied for the team lead with seven quarterback sacks.

Florida has plenty of experienced backups to step in if Dunlap is suspended

According to the GPD, Dunlap was found asleep, slumped over the wheel of the car he was driving while it was idling at an intersection.  Read full story here
